Vespa (Italian pronunciation: [ˈvɛspa]; Italian for ‘ wasp ‘) is an Italian brand of scooters and mopeds manufactured by Piaggio. The Vespa has evolved from a single model motor scooter manufactured in 1946 by Piaggio & Co. S.p.A. of Pontedera, Italy, to a full line of scooters and one of seven companies today owned by Piaggio.. A moped is a bicycle-type vehicle (or two-wheeled vehicle) usually equipped with pedals and a low-powered engine that provides an economical mode of transportation. However, nowadays, mopeds have a step-through frame with or without pedals. It typically has an engine smaller than 50cc and/or has a maximum speed of 28mph.
